A group of RSIS researchers led by Ambassador Ong Keng Yong visited Myanmar ISIS on 15 September 2017 for an exchange of views on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Maritime Security with the Chairman of Myanmar ISIS and members and others specially invited guests. They also discussed future cooperation between Myanmar ISIS and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).
A delegation from the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies(BIISS) visited Yangon at the invitation of Myanmar ISIS from 21 to 23 August 2017. It is a well- known Think Tank in Bangladesh affiliated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation was led by its Chairman Ambassador H.E.Mr. Munshi Faiz Ahmad and comprised the Director General Major General A K M Abdur Rahman and a senior research officer. Myanmar ISIS and BIISS signed MoU for cooperation between the two organizations on 22 August 2017 at Myanmar ISIS Conference Room. Later on they exchanged views with Myanmar ISIS Chairman and members for potential collaboration in future.
On the 19th and 20th of June 2017 at the Melia Hotel Yangon, Myanmar ISIS together with NUPI jointly organized a roundtable on ASEAN’s role in international climate policy. Participants were Myanmar ISIS partner foreign policy think tanks from across ASEAN. The purpose of this roundtable was to present the international affairs and geopolitical challenges each ASEAN member state faces regarding climate change. Climate change may cause some of the biggest international relations and geopolitical challenges in the region during the coming years, for example in terms of inter-state migration.
June 05, 2017 H.E. Mr. Vikram Misri, Ambassador of India to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, held a talks at the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (Myanmar-ISIS) on 5th June 2017 with the title “India and the Neighbourhood: Relations with Myanmar”. Some members of the Institute and Professors, Assistant Professors and students form International Relations Department of Yangon University and Dagon University were attended on the occasion.
Myanmar-China Scholars' Dialogue for Peace held at the Institute today, which was jointly organized by Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (Myanmar ISIS) and Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD). Dialogue was followed by 3 Sessions such as:- 1. Priorities for Peace; 2. The Process in Context and 3. Seeking Solutions through Cross-border Cooperation.
