GCMS (Global Centre for Mekong Studies) Coordinators’ Virtual Meeting was held on 9 September 2020. It was attended by representatives from the six GCMS Centers from China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. Welcome remarks were made by Permanent Co-Chair China and Outgoing Co-Chair Laos and Incoming Co-Chair Myanmar. From 2020 onwards China and Myanmar will Co-Chair the activities of GCMS for two years. In the first meeting the representatives discussed and exchanged views on the topic “The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridors and the Role of MLC”. This topic is in line with the decision of the Fifth LMC Ministerial Meeting’s decision which instructed the GCMS to submit a detailed report. Each Center is required to present a research paper on the topic and submit to the Co-Chairs by the end of November.
