The Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies hosted virtually the Sixth Meeting of the BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks (BNPTT) at the office of the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies in Yangon on July 9-10, 2024.

At the meeting, H.E. U Thant Kyaw, Chairman of the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies, and H.E. Mr. Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General of the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, delivered their remarks, respectively.

The scholars and academicians of the BNPTT Members, which are the Centre for Policy Dialogue from Bangladesh, the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies from Bhutan, the Research and Information System for Developing Countries from India, the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies from Myanmar, the Centre for Economic Development and Administration from Nepal, the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Releations and Strategic Studies from Sri Lanka, the Indian Studies Center of Chulalongkorn University and the India Studies Group of Ubon Ratchathani University from Thailand, the responsible officials from the BIMSTEC Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation of Myanmar participated in the meeting.

As Myanmar is a Lead country in the Agriculture and Food Security Sector in BIMSTEC, the meeting was held under the theme “Policies, Strategies and Future Direction for Agricultural Development and Food Security in BIMSTEC Cooperation” to explore the ways and means for encountering challenges faced in this sector from the perspective of academicians.
