An online meeting was held between the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) and the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR) on the afternoon of 27 January 2026 to further strengthen institutional cooperation and discuss practical arrangements for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The meeting was jointly chaired by U Thant Kyaw, Chairman of MISIS, and Mr. Oleg Makarov, Director of BISR.

The meeting reviewed the positive momentum in Myanmar–Belarus relations, highlighted recent mutual high-level exchanges and institutional interactions, and emphasized the role of Track 2 and Track 1.5 dialogues in complementing official relations. A Memorandum of Understanding agreed in principle, will be signed in a mutually convenient time and place. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting cooperation by undertaking joint research activities, facilitating expert exchanges, and engaging in international forum.
