Organizing Online Meeting entitled “Think Tanks as Strategic Actors: How MISIS and IPRI Can Shape Regional Policy” between MISIS and IPRI

On the afternoon of 27 January 2026, an online meeting was held between the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) and the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) under the theme “Think Tanks as Strategic Actors: How MISIS and IPRI Can Shape Regional Policy” in line with the General Agreement for Cooperation signed by the two institutions in 2015. The meeting was co-chaired by Chairman of MISIS, U Thant Kyaw, and President of IPRI, Lt. Gen. Majid Ehsan (Retd).

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on enhancing institutional interactions and research cooperation, including the organization of joint webinars and the preparation of collaborative research papers on issues of mutual interest. They also discussed the possibility of undertaking joint studies on defense cooperation, bilateral trade relations, the China–Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC), and the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
