The Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) hosted a special talk titled “Academic Diplomacy and International Studies: Prospects for Russia and Myanmar” at its Meeting Room on 17 October 2025. The talk was delivered by Dr. Dmitry Baryshnikov, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Saint Petersburg State University of the Russian Federation.

The event was attended by members of MISIS, H.E. Mr. Iskander Azizov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar, Mr. Viacheslav Kalganov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of City of Saint Petersburg, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Russian Embassy, MISIS researchers and students from the Diploma in Diplomacy Program of the Myanmar Diplomatic Academy.

The talk concluded with a lively discussion among participants on the evolving dynamics of Academic Diplomacy in modern diplomacy and prospects of academic studies between Myanmar and Russia.
